Nico Rosberg takes full control of Team Rosberg Engineering GmbH (TRE) at the beginning of 2025.
TRE, founded in 1997 as a subsidiary of the legendary Team Rosberg racing team, specializes in chassis development and counts four of the five leading German Automotive OEMs among its long-standing customers. From 2008 until the end of 2024, TRE was a joint venture between Team Rosberg and IAV GmbH.
Nico Rosberg, entrepreneur and Formula 1 World Champion 2016, comments on the takeover: “We thank IAV for the many years of valuable cooperation and are now proud to lead TRE into a new era. This independence is a new opportunity to develop TRE’s innovative strength in new markets and partnerships. Our goal is to strengthen TRE as a boutique provider of engineering services in the premium segment, to continue to grow and to deliver the excellence to our clients that we have stood for decades.”
TRE will operate as an independent company in the future and plans to use its proven expertise in vehicle dynamics and ride comfort to tap into new markets and further exciting customers.
Boris Kirchner, Managing Director of Team Rosberg Engineering, emphasizes: “As an independent company, we will be able to respond to our customers’ needs even faster and more specifically. With our focus on innovation, precision and in-depth chassis expertise, we create tailor-made solutions for the most demanding customers worldwide.”
IAV’s strategic decision to withdraw from the joint venture was made as part of a company-wide transformation. The aim of this realignment is the strategic expansion of the key areas of software-defined vehicle (SDV) and powertrain expertise.
“IAV had been involved in the Team Rosberg Engineering joint venture since 2008. Together, we have successfully implemented numerous projects in the development of chassis and vehicle components in the past”, explains Sebastian Sinning, Chief Technology Officer (CTO) at IAV. “As part of our strategic realignment and in response to the changing requirements and wishes of our customers, we are now focusing more strongly on our new core competencies and bundling our resources in the areas of software-defined vehicle and powertrain as well as in cooperation with technology companies in the mobility sector.”
TRE will continue to be part of IAV’s value creation network. Joint development projects already underway between IAV and TRE will be continued independently of the transaction.
