Nico Rosberg founds Rosberg Xtreme Racing Team
Our shareholder Nico Rosberg has announced his entry into the Extreme E racing series with the formation of Rosberg Xtreme Racing.
Similar to Formula E, the vehicles are powered exclusively by electricity. What makes this new race series special is the fact that the 550-horsepower electric SUVs compete off-road in remote environments around the world to raise awareness about the growing impact of climate change. Stops will include the Atlantic coast in Senegal (evidence of plastic waste and rising sea levels), Saudi Arabia (desertification), the Patagonia region in Argentina (dwindling glaciers), the Greenland Arctic (melting ice caps), and the Amazon rainforest (deforestation).
“The series provides a unique opportunity to not only raise global awareness of climate change, but also to inspire action in the fight against it.” – Nico Rosberg
All Extreme E races, the so-called X Prix, will take place over two laps and a distance of just under 16 kilometers. Each of the eight teams competes with a male-female driver pairing. The paddock is located on a converted old RMS St. Helena postal ship. The new race series is scheduled to start in March 2021.
Nico Rosberg Founder and CEO of Rosberg Xtreme Racing says: “I am very proud to announce Rosberg Xtreme Racing’s entry into the Extreme E. The series offers a unique opportunity to not only raise global awareness of climate change, but also to inspire action in the fight against it. Since leaving Formula 1 as an active driver, my career has revolved around sustainable technologies. It’s incredibly fulfilling to be able to combine this with my passion for racing.”
Here is the film for the presentation of the team and the interview with Nico. From 1:20:05 it becomes particularly interesting.
We keep our fingers crossed for our partner Nico and the whole team for a successful 2021 season.
